Amsterdam Canal Tours
With the exception of Venice perhaps, there are very few places in the world where canals play such an integral part of the city, its history and day to day life as they do in Amsterdam.
The street plan is literally woven around the canal system and consequently you can't go far in the city centre without going over one of the many bridges carrying cyclist’s trams and tourists.
However, the best way to see the canals (and the city itself) is by taking a boat trip around the canal system itself. Routes vary but most companies cover the most famous landmarks such as Anne Frank’s House, Rijksmuseum and Centraal Station. Operational hours are from 10.00 to 18.00 with Green Line touring until 19.30. A Canal Bus Day Pass costs around €18 and is valid until 12.00 the next day.
For the more active canal-lovers, there are pedalos available for hire from Canal Bike located close to the Rijksmsuem. Happy peddling!
