Oud Zuid
One of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in Amsterdam, Oud Zuid makes for an interesting choice of area to stay in if you are looking for a less "touristy" experience from your visit to Amsterdam.
Located in the south of the city (Oud Zuid means "Old South"), it is was largely built at the end of the 19th century and is predominantly residential. Oud Zuid itself contains Vondel Park, the Albert Kuyp market, Museumplein and the Heineken Museum amongst others.
Good for:
A quieter, more traditionally Dutch experience
Vondel Park and some of the major museums
Not so good for:
The city centre attractions
Night-life and entertainment
